First Day of Pre-K

Today was Nicholas' first day of Pre-K and he was so ready to go!  He was literally bouncing around all morning long.  When we got to school, he found his name tag and went to find his seat just as his teachers requested.  He was to sit on wherever his name was on the carpet, so he ended up sitting on the pig.  He sat down and was like "Bye, Mom."  I went to the back of the room just to watch a little bit longer.  I got a little teary I must admit.  Then the teachers got everyone seated and had the kids turn around and wave goodbye and blow a kiss to the Moms and Dads.  Nicholas turned around thinking I was already gone, but when he saw me still there, he happily did as his teachers asked. 
Kyle and I had plenty of errands to run while Nicholas was in school.  One of our stops was to Sees Candy.  There, the nice woman gave Kyle a sample.  He liked it so much that when he was done, he kept pointing to the tray and signing, "More."  Thankfully, that was all he got because one was more than enough I think! ( I had intended just to share mine with him, but he got a whole one to himself.)
When we went to pick up, the teacher came out and said that everyone had a wonderful day and that she was so happy that things went so perfectly and smoothly today.  She said there were no tears and lots of new friends made.  Nicholas was excited when we picked him up and said he had a good time.

Birthday Party

Saturday we celebrated Connor's 7th birthday with his friends.  :)
He invited several classmates this year.  Here are some picture highlights.

Homework and Lipstick

This weekend, Connor's homework was to decorate his writing journal.  He was to choose and put pictures of things he liked and/or memories.  It is in an effort to give him some ideas when he gets stumped during writing time at school.  I thought it was a marvelous idea and we had so much fun choosing pictures to put on it.  :)  We'll definitely have to keep that journal forever!

I have let him use chapstick before so I'm sure thought it MUST be the same thing.  

(Although, when we do chapstick, I apply it, not him.)

The boy with the hats

Kyle never wants to leave on his baseball cap when we go out and he needs it.  However, if we go out to the store, he loves to wear any hat he finds and proceeds to wear it the whole time we are there.  He's always heart-broken when I put them back at the end of our trip.  If I didn't though, we'd have a ton of hats! 

Perhaps my problem is that his baseball cap is not nearly as cool as the hats he chooses. You can be judge.  :)

Meet your Teacher Day

Today was Nicholas' first opportunity to meet his teacher and see his classroom.  He's never been there before, but it was like he has been there a million times!  As soon as the teacher opened the door, he walked away from me and into the classroom.  He turned in his homework and set straight to playing.  He played with a little girl named Peyton and a little boy named Jayden.  He loved everything about his classroom.  When the half hour session was over, he hugged his teacher good-bye and said, "See you on Tuesday!"  I'm so glad he is so excited about school! 

His homework was to fill out an information sheet about himself.  The only thing that may be unclear is the "When I grow up I want to be . . ." section.  It is a picture of a roller coaster because he wants to design and build roller coasters when he grows up.  He says he's going to work on some that are fun and not scary so that I can go on them without being scared.  :)

 Before we headed into class, Kyle decided Nicholas needed a huggie.  

I guess he really did need a hug, because they stayed just like this for a few minutes.

Yesterday we went to Happy Hollow after school.  We took a picture by the sign for the Japanese Friendship Garden, but we didn't actually go to it.  We will make it in there one of these days!

This is in the window on display at Connor's class.  He colored his face brown because he said they didn't have a peach marker.  (I had thought he was just trying to show how tan he got over the summer!)

The bottom is a paragraph to describe himself and then you are supposed to guess which is which student.  His says:  I am a boy.  I have brown hair and brown eyes.  I am 6 years old.  I live in a house.  I love to eat ice cream and chocolate muffins.  The thing I like to do best is games.  My favorite TV program is "Star Wars."  If I could wish for one thing, I would wish for a house.  Who am I?"

Every single student answered the "I live . . ." with "in a house."  Ha ha
He says he wished for a house because he means he wishes for his OWN house, right next to ours.
