Mohawk

Connor needed a new bike helmet, so today we went to pick one out.  He LOVES his new helmet and was proud to come show Daddy.  All Daddy could manage to say was, "Well, it is a unique helmet for sure."  All I care about is that his noggin' is safe!  For his size, they no longer have cutesy super hero helmets so it could have been a worse pick than one with a Mohawk on it.

 

 

 

 

He decided his hair should match his Mohawk helmet.  Lucky for us, it is not long enough to fully pull off the Mohawk look.

Walk-a-thon and Lemonade

Friday was a big day!  We started off with a special event at school called Donuts with Dad.  The boys were so excited!  The event is before school starts and they have donuts, fruit, coffee, apple juice, and orange juice to serve to all the kids and their Dads or special person.  Charlie took the day off because it was also the day of the Walk-a-thon and Connor and he were going to be running/walking buddies.  Connor was once again determined to try to make it to the whole 72 laps, but once again, fell short.  Oh well!  He says he will do better next year.

 Nicholas was less eager to walk much.  He made it through 7 laps, but there were a lot of 'rest' breaks in which he climbed trees or picked flowers or just sat and drank water while watching the other kids walk by.

 Connor ran quite a few laps, but that wore him out.  He ended up doing 12 laps total because he ran so many of them and kind of wiped himself out.  He ran and walked with Charlie and he also ran and walked with his best friend.  Overall, they had a blast and can't wait for next year's Walk-a-thon.

 

 Connor was determined to have a lemonade stand on Saturday.  He wanted to raise money to save up for something, though he has not decided what that something is yet.  We kept warning him it was not going to be super easy and he found out the hard way.  We started at 11 AM on Saturday and at first he was quite enthusiastic.  He was holding up his sign by the stop sign near our house and yelling, "Lemonade!  Get your lemonade here!"  After about a half an hour, he was discouraged a little.  Two of our neighbors passed by and said they would stop by later, which was nice, but he still felt bad he had not sold any lemonade.  Nicholas said he would take a turn holding the sign, but I thought it was super cute that he told Connor, "I don't want any of your money, I just want to help you."  He held up the sign and got a couple biking by to stop by for some lemonade.  That was the start of an influx of neighbors who bought lemonade.  We sold $7 worth, then there was a lull again.  We made lunch and then Kyle decided he would take a turn with the sign.  He was standing at the corner holding the sign and yelling, "LEMONADE!" as loud as he his little lungs would allow.  It was very cute and he got a lot of passers by saying, "Awww... how cute!" but no one else bought any lemonade.  At 4 PM, we decided to pack it up.  Connor was a little discouraged that more people didn't come by but glad that he made some money.  He said that the job was a lot harder than he expected and not quite as fun as he had hoped it would be.  In any case, now he can say he's done it and learned from it. 

 

 

Batman Live!

Today we went to see Batman Live!  It was so good and the boys were so thrilled.    We all wore our Batman shirts and the boys both wore Batman masks.  Kyle stayed home with Trevor, since we knew it would be hard for him to sit through it.

 The boys were in awe of the stage as we walked to our seats.  We paid for really good seats and I'm so glad.  Being in row 3 really helped make the whole show more interactive.  We not only got to see everything so close-up, but we got to enjoy parts of the show that we wouldn't have otherwise.  When the Joker's goons shoot cannons at the crowd, we were close enough that all the Batman shaped confetti fell all over us and around us.  When the clowns passed out a few (like maybe 10 at most) promotional flyers to the crowd, we were able to get one.

 They had some life-size lego shapes of Batman, Robin, and Joker which we got to see.

It was a really great show and I'm so glad the boys enjoyed it as much, if not more, than us.

Sunday Fun

We went out for a bike/scooter/car ride with the boys.  We rode to the nearby playground and just had some fun family time.

 

 

 Kyle loves going on the slide.  The only difference is that today he was wearing a Bumblebee costume and so he was much slipperier than usual and he kept going SUPER fast and ended up landing past the slide each time.  He thought it was the greatest thing ever!  I tried to get a video of it, but he slowed himself down on that one.

 

 

 

 

Festival fun

Today we went to the Santa Clara Art and Wine Festival by our house.  The boys LOVE going there!  We got there early to avoid huge crowds, had our fun, had our lunch, and headed home just in time for Kyle to nap.  It was great!
First thing we did was get glitter tattoos!  The boys were so excited and they said they would last about a week, so we shall see!  Nicholas picked a green lizard and Connor picked a crown with wings that had actual jewels on it.

 

 

 Daddy is not the biggest fan of being out in the heat, but he braved it for the boys' sake.

 

The Big Slide is always their favorite.  They'd love to just ride it over and over and over.  Kyle did not ask to go on it thankfully, because he is just shy of being tall enough.

 

 He was able to ride the little train they had and he was very excited about that!

Connor decided he desperately wanted to try climbing the rock wall.  I was nervous but I allowed it.
He was very brave and excited.

When he almost had made it all the way to the top, he looked down and started to get scared.  He asked if he could just stop there and go back down, to which we said of course and he was relieved.  I think he thought he HAD to finish- poor guy!

While Connor climbed the wall, Nicholas went off to work on a craft with Daddy.

 When they got back, he brought me a flower.

 We got ice cream for our walk home.

 Kyle passed out in the stroller right before we got the ice cream.

We had some contractors out doing work on our house to make it safer over these past few weeks and it is finally done!  The moved the fence out so that more of the house is fenced and and more secure. 

 They took out our sliding glass doors and installed regular double doors.

Hopefully all these things will deter anyone else from ever breaking in again.  In any case, at least we feel safer now and know who to call for any further home improvement projects.  :)
