Halloween!

This year I was juggling many things, so I was unable to do our usual adult sized Cookie Monster person.  Cookie still stood guard over our candy, but he was much shorter than he usually seems.

Connor had originally wanted to be the black-suited Spider-man for Halloween, but when we looked they were too expensive.  We convinced him to be the regular blue and red Spider-man and he was fine with it.  I bought this costume a little over a month ago, size 7-8.  I swear to you that it DID fit him well at the time.  We had not tried it on since we bought it and I felt bad for him when he put it on at school for the parade.  He was practically bursting out of that costume!  Thankfully the black-suited Spider-man I bought at Outrageous Outgrowns a few weeks ago was size 8-10 and fit him fine; thus he was indeed his black-suited Spider-man for Halloween trick or treating.

This year, Kyle was once again Green Lantern.  We were pleasantly surprised that he actually left his mask on.  A further surprise was that he did not eat ALL the candy as we collected it.  We were sure that was going to be a battle, but thankfully he was happy to hold two candies in his hands and watch his little bucket fill up with treats.

Charlie dressed up as Dr. Who!  He loved his costume but was sure that no one we saw would know who he was.  Oh well!  He can always wear it to Comic Con; EVERYONE will know who he is there!

And here ladies and gentlemen, made public for the first time anywhere . . . you have my latest creative endeavor.  I made a diaper cake for a friend's shower this weekend.  It was really easy and I think it came out really pretty!

Safety

For the past few days, when we go pick up Connor from school, Kyle decided he needed a safety helmet.  Perhaps he thought I was not considering his safety as he rode in the stroller or his little red car.  Either way, he wears it while we are going to and from and then as soon as we get home, he takes it off.

 He was so excited when he saw Connor come out of his class.  

He gave him a big hug and made Connor smile from ear to ear.

 Then he tried to explain why he was wearing the helmet.

 He tried to take it off to give to Connor.

 Connor told him he could keep wearing it if he wanted to 

and he so he did keep wearing it till we got home.

Whenever we tell Kyle to drive when he's in his little car, he grabs the steering wheel and shakes. 
Not sure why he does that, but he does and we all think its funny so he keeps doing it.

PreK Halloween Party

Today both boys were very excited.  Connor's class went on a field trip all day to a farm.  Hopefully someone will have some pictures of that to share with me later!  And Nicholas was thrilled because today was his class Halloween party! 

Turns out both he and another classmate were Bumblebee the Transformer for Halloween.  

He refused to wear the mask, but said it was okay because if you look closely you can see Bumblebee's eyes on his costume so he doesn't need the mask.  I wasn't about to argue!

 As a treat to his classmates, we brought in ring pops and a star balloon. 

While we were waiting for the parade to start, Kyle was making spooky, ghostly sounds so I tried to get it on video.  This is as good as it got because he stopped cooperating when I turned on the camera.


He was supposed to be singing, but he was preoccupied.




He finally got the okay that he could come with Mommy.

Happy Hollow

Today was the first time we went to Happy Hollow to see their Fall decor. 

 Can you tell they were not into taking pictures?

 They had never been on these swings either.  They were not that impressed, but said it was fun.

Spider

During the dance halloween party, Connor and Nicholas got a treat bag that had a little toy spider.  Kyle LOVES that little spider because it has a spring mechanism that makes it pop up, and its pretty cute for a spider.  Today before the bath, we had some silly fun with the spider.

We had gone on a bike ride at 7 and it was already dark, 

but we still went because the boys had their heart set on it.

Here Nicholas is telling me that some fairies just came up to him

 Very excited to be out and about!

Many Things

This blog post is about many small, albeit important things (well, important to us at least!)

First off, a few months ago Connor asked me to let his hair grow longer so he could spike it up.  Usually, we keep it short so it is easier to manage, but I allowed it.  Now it is long enough that today he wore it spiked to school.  He was quite excited.  Nicholas was not a fan of Connor's hair and asked him not to wear it like that again.  

Nicholas loves having lots of flowers in the front yard.  He very dutifully waters 'our' flowers every morning.

Kyle has been desperately longing to have his own little car that he sees other toddlers riding at Connor's school.  I have been looking at push buggy types and trying to figure out what I wanted and what I was willing to pay for it.  We ended up getting this Little Tikes red car and he ADORES it.  He has been playing with it all day and excitedly asking to ride it when we are going out.

Lastly for this post, today Connor's dance class had their dance presentation for the parents and then a small Halloween party.  They showed us a few of their moves and mainly focused on the Ghostbusters song they had been hard at work on.  Connor was excited to wear his black Spider-man costume and even more thrilled that it made him look like he had lots of muscles!
