100th day of school

The 100th day of school is coming up on Wednesday, so it was once again 100 day project time.  Nicholas had to take 100 of something and find a creative way to display it.  We had a ton of sea shell necklaces so we tried to come up with something to use those.  He decided he wanted to make a 100 snails racing.  It took us a while and a lot of clay, but we were pleased with how it came out. 

There are 25 red snails, 25 yellow snails, 25 blue snails, and 25 green snails.  Nicholas' favorite color is red, so he made the red snail team be the winners in this race.   Each snails is wearing their number (from 1-100) on their shell.

 

 

Nicholas' Costume Birthday Party

We had several people over for his party and he had a great time.  I loved seeing all the costumes.

Lego Show

The boys decided to participate in the school's Lego Show.  They had to turn in a project proposal in December and get it approved by the Lego Committee.  It had to a design of their own creation, not a pre-made Lego kit.  Nicholas made a warrior battle scene.  Connor chose to recreate a scene from a video game he likes, Portal.  I was very proud of them.  They worked very hard all Christmas break.  The actual Lego Show was earlier this week and there were 60 entries.  They didn't win, but were happy to see many people admiring their handiwork. 

Nicholas is set in the ruins of a castle.  There are two guys fighting in the middle.  There are two treasure chests, and the winner gets both.  There is a man eating shark (with lego legs sticking out of its mouth) and a man caught in quick sand.  I assume these are losers of the previous battles.  

 

 

 

 Connor's video game, Portal, is about a computer that makes people go through various testing areas and in the end tries to kill them.  He made the computer so it can rotate all the way around.  There is a test subject in the scene trying to set off or not set off the incinerator (I'm not sure which).   There is also green, deadly neurotoxin coming out of the floor vents.

 

 

 

Super Star

Today Connor was the Super Star of his classroom.  He was so excited!
 We are so proud of him!

 

 

 

Preschool

Today was Kyle's first day of full day preschool.  He was very excited!  He was a little nervous when it was time for us to go, but there were no tears.  He had a great day and loved it!  He can't wait to go back and we are so pleased with his enthusiasm.  He's growing up so fast!

 

 

Principal Super Star Again

Connor was selected as a Principal Super Star again!  It is very rare for a student to get this award once in a school year, let alone twice.  He was so surprised and shocked.  He's hoping to keep doing so well that he makes it 3 times in one school year.  This one was for being a super role model at recess. We are so proud of him!
