Crazy Nicholas

Lately Nicholas has been talking a lot about marriage. He says he's going to marry Haley. He will tell me so at random times. So I began asking him questions recently.... like does he love Haley. His response: "Yeah, love Haley." Where are you going to get married? Response: "In bouncy house." I told him he was going to have to ask Haley's Mommy and Daddy if he can marry her and he said okay. I guess that started him thinking about Haley's family because then he said, "Connor marry Kyleigh." Of course, this made me laugh, but Connor was mortified by such a suggestion. Connor said he can't marry Kyleigh because he wants to stay with us here, so he can't marry anyone. Despite Connor's lack of agreement, Nicholas insists that he will marry Haley and Connor will marry Kyleigh. Crazy boy....
As further proof of his insanity, today I suspected Nicholas needed a changing, so I asked him if he did. He responded, "No diapie change yet. Wait 13 seconds." Completely crazy child... :P

Day 2

Today was a bit harder for Connor to wake up. He was excited but took longer to get out of bed. He ate all his breakfast. He was happily showing off his Iron Man backpack and lunch box to his friends.
In order to keep Nicholas from being so down, I took him with me to run several errands today. We went to the comic shop for Charlie, we took Lainie for a vet appointment, we went to Trader Joe's to shop and get a free balloon, and we went to Toys R Us to pick up a game for Daddy. This made time fly by in the morning and though he did ask about Connor twice, he didn't cry today.
One day at a time. :)

Busy Day

This morning Connor woke up early; it was 6:45 and he normally wakes up no earlier than 7:30. He was very excited for school. He ate his breakfast without dawdling. He even had time to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He had asked us if he could take a flower for his teacher, so as we left the house he grabbed a pink hibiscus from our yard to take to her. We left for school at about 8:15. We got there at 8:20, when they allow you to walk onto campus. He was thoroughly excited! As we waited he did tell us not to forget to come back and get him.
At 8:30 they let us walk him to his classroom. He saw Miss Eisenberg and was very excited to see her. He gave her the flower he brought her. She seemed genuinely surprised he had brought it for her and she said she loves hibiscus flowers. She had little areas set up with activities for while the students all got there and parents had time to settle their kids in. One little boy was in tears the whole time. Connor sat and was coloring and drawing. Nicholas wanted to sit and color too, so I had to keep him in my arms the whole time so he would not get any illusions that he would be staying as well. Around 8:40, Miss Eisenberg called all the students to her and gave them a baggie to give to their parents. Inside the baggie was a poem, a tissue, a bandaid, and a Hershey's Hug and a Hershey's Kiss. It was a very sweet gesture. After that the parents went off and the kids sat on the carpet for her. Connor chose to sit in a green square because green is his favorite color at the moment. We went to a parent orientation that lasted longer than we expected. It was done at about 9:30, so we walked home to mill around a bit before having to pick up Connor at 10:10. The whole way home Nicholas was near tears, demanding that we go back for Connor. He kept saying that we couldn't leave Connor and that Connor couldn't go to school yet. When we got home he was distracted by a stray kitten that comes to visit on occasion, but once we went into the house, he burst into full on tears. He climbed in my lap and cried hard. He told me he missed Connor. I promised him we would go get him soon when school was over. He stayed in my lap for a half hour crying off and on. He was thoroughly thrilled when he finally said it was time to go get Connor. We walked again, but this time we had a certain kitten follow us. It followed us all the way to the school. It kept getting distracted and stopping, then meowing hysterically and running to catch up with us again. Everyone kept asking us if it was our cat, but we were honest and said, nope-- he's just following us. When we got to Connor's classroom they were doing the Freeze Dance. It was cute to watch him, but as soon as he saw we were there he stopped dancing. Once the teacher stopped the music, Connor told her, "I'm sorry.... school's over now. I have to go home, but don't worry, I'll be back another day." We were happy to see that he was happy and plans to return. We asked how he did and Miss Eisenberg said he did fine. :)
On the walk home he told us everything he did. He did notice that the kitten that visits on occasion was in the arms of a parent as we were leaving. It was amusing to see that the kitten desperately wanted out of her arms to go back to following us. The parent said she was going to take the kitten to the Vet to see if it has a chip or something to find its owner. We were glad that at least now the kitten will have someone to take care of it better than we could. It just roams our neighborhood coming to the different houses asking for food when it gets hungry.
We went to lunch at Togo's and then Charlie had to go to work. Later on today, Baba is coming over to visit and baby-sit the kids as Charlie and I have another orientation to attend tonight.
I hope that tomorrow goes as smoothly as today.

Connor's 5th Birthday!

So last year when Connor turned 4, we told him 'Happy Birthday' when he woke up and he responded by crying and saying, "I'll never be 3 again!!!" This year he woke up and exclaimed, "I'm FIVE now!! I've left the four behind!!" I guess 4 was an age he would have rather skipped. :P

We had his birthday party today on the actual day of his birthday. It was kind of an all day event with people coming and going. It was fun and he really enjoyed having everyone over. Here are some highlights.




Connor has been wearing his costumes he received today. Sometimes he's Spider-man, sometimes he's a fire fighter, sometimes he's a fire fighting Spider-man. When we went to store he was wearing the Spider-man mask, but as soon as we were getting off the car, he took it off because he was afraid people would know his secret identity if he kept it on.

By the time we got to the pinata, the only kids around were Connor and Nicholas. Toby, Charlie, and Trevor were glad to help and give the boys advice on how best to destroy the poor pinata.

Haunted

Tonight we made the discovery that our house is haunted. It is the first time we have seen these two rather small ghosts around. They appeared shortly after bedtime. First they visited Charlie. Both ghosts were very quiet as they approached, taking each step very cautiously-- almost as if to prevent themselves from falling over. Next they visited Nadia. Each time the ghosts were discovered there was a flurry of laughter and the two ghosts ran to Connor and Nicholas' bedroom. Thankfully Connor and Nicholas don't mind having these silly ghosts in their bedroom.

Tattoos

Today we received a package from Grandma and Grandpa in Texas. Among other things, they sent a bag full of temporary tattoos with the Bee mascot that Connor so dearly loves. Connor wanted to put one on right away. Nicholas decided to follow suit once Connor did it. Connor is very proudly keeping his shirt sleeve rolled up so he can show off his tattoo. I had to roll Nicholas' shirt sleeve down because he decided he 'didn't want a bee yet.' I don't know how to remove those things... heheh... so hopefully he won't realize he still has it on.

Zoo Day

As I mentioned before, we are in need of distractions while Charlie is gone.... sooo today we had a Zoo Day with Trisha, Lydia (Trisha's Mom), and Baby Michael. We had an awesome time!! :) There are so many pictures from today, so I will try to only put up the absolute cutest. :)
