Samantha Iylene *UPDATED*

My brother (Roy) and my sis-in-law (Victoria) just had baby #3 yesterday!! I introduce to you Samantha Iylene Garza. She was born at 10:50 am (Alaska time). She is 13 pounds of lovable cuddliness. She measures 21.5 inches in length. She has a very full head of curly, curly hair like her Mommy, although I only have access to pictures with her little hat on. She was born via c-section and both baby and Mommy are doing fine.
After much pestering (in my brother's words), I finally have pictures with no hat on!! :)

Beach Day

Today we went to the beach with some friends. The kids had so much fun! They got to stay up past bedtime-- a very rare treat indeed. :)

Conclusions

Children come up with strange conclusions sometimes.

Yesterday as we drove, we passed by a dental office with Chinese writing on the window. Connor asked, "Mommy, is that a Ninja Dentist?"

This morning, Connor and Nicholas found a candy from Connor's birthday. They shared it and thought I had not noticed. On the way to school, Connor confessed that he had eaten it. I told him that next time he needs to ask before he eats any candy and he said he would. Later in the day, while Nicholas and I were home alone, Nicholas came up to me with the empty box of candy. He told me, "Connor naughty boy!" I laughed and said, "You were naughty too because you ate it also." He denied being naughty and said, "Connor found it." I said, "Did you eat some of the candy?" He said, "Of course I ate candy." I then said, "See? You were naughty and so was Connor." Despite this argument, he continues to insist that since Connor is the one who got the candy out and opened it up, he is the only naughty one.

Weekend

This weekend was nice and pretty relaxing. Saturday we went to the mall and parked on the 3rd floor of the parking structure. Connor desperately wanted to look out and 'see the city and the mountains'. So Charlie put him on his shoulders and let him take in the view.

On Sunday the boys and I enjoyed the overcast sky and cool breeze. We took advantage of this nice weather to play and work in the yard. It drizzled on us a few times and the kids thought it was great. :)

Of course, Nicholas wanted to climb it too... but he needed more Mommy help than Connor did. Still, he was quite proud of himself once he was up there and hanging on tightly.

We tried flying a kite.... unsuccessfully, but oh well. Connor tried to help by blowing on it. :P
We did get it off the ground, but not very high at all.

Homework

So Connor's teacher assigned him some homework that was a special project to explore a part of your heritage. We were supposed to dress and decorate a doll to exhibit a particular part of Connor's heritage; so Charlie and I looked up Mexican, Czech, German, and Apache. We decided Apache would be easiest. Nadia's family is descended from the Apache from South Texas and it was fun for Connor to research that with us. Here is our finished doll that we will present to the teacher tomorrow; its actually early, but we were afraid it would get destroyed if it stayed here any longer than necessary. ;)

Play Date

Today Haley and Nicholas had a play date. Nicholas says he intends to marry her, although he chickened out today in asking her parent's permission. :P
Haley wore several outfits to dazzle us during our visit. She was unsuccessful in convincing Nicholas to wear a tutu; fortunately, her baby sister, Kyleigh, was more than happy to wear the other tutu. When we asked Nicholas if he was going to marry Haley, he would go up to her and hug her. :)

Shirt

Connor was so excited to get his Doctor Who shirts yesterday in the mail. He wore one to school today. Charlie is of course jealous of the shirts, but that goes without saying. Connor was recalling how we saw "Doctor Who" in San Diego this summer while we were walking to school this morning. I doubt anyone in his class knew who was on his shirt, but at least the shirt looks really nice. We bought the shirts from Ebay from someone who does tranfers onto shirts, and it came out so crisp and clear; we were very, very impressed.
