Connor liked the Frog Hopper just as much as Nicholas, though Nicholas refused to ride it today.
Though he barely fits, Connor wanted to ride the fire truck in the Mini Putt Putt.

Kyle did not enjoy it so much. I should have known better though, because he is extremely afraid of the rocking horse we have at home, so a real pony that licks his hand was too much for him.

Nicholas was excited by this dig site and was happy to report to Connor that it was like the one at Children's Discovery Museum.
This grumpy fellow was jumping at lots of the guests. He was not in a very good mood at all.
Nicholas did not seem bothered that he was glaring at him.
We found this Fossa eating a rat. I'm almost sure it was not given to him, but he caught it.
It was pretty gross, but Nicholas and Marija stayed watching it.

This summer the boys have really enjoyed staying home and doing summer things here (although they do feel sad about not having gone to Texas this summer to visit Grandma and Grandpa). Both older boys have been doing camp at Grandpa Jim's club. Connor's lasts all day, every weekday. He goes in at 9 and we pick him up at 3:15. Nicholas' age group only went Tuesday and Thursday for three hours for two weeks and then it was over. He really enjoyed camp and felt really sad to know that Connor would be going this week and he wouldn't, so I promised him we would do one fun thing each day after we dropped off Connor. He has been very happy with that plan.
Monday we went on a hike in Rancho San Antonio with Marija. We hiked to Deer Hollow Farm, but it was closed. We did get to see some of the animals from outside the gate though.
I have to say, the hiking backpack carrier was convenient while Kyle was awake. When he started to fall asleep on the hike though, it was uncomfortable for both of us. Lesson of the day: getting a backpack carrier for Comic Con is not such a good idea afterall.

Tuesday we went to Mommy and Me on the Row with Trisha and Kristy. It was fun, but it was pretty hot. Then we went to the mall to shop at Target and play with all the toys.
Here you have my hip carrier. Much better for both of us. He's comfortable and I'm comfortable and when he falls asleep, he can lean on me.
Wednesday we went to the Children's Discovery Museum. Nicholas had never been, so he had SO much fun! He says his favorite part was the pizza cooking area, but I think it was the water area because we spent a whole hour there.

Thursday we went to Happy Hollow. We were surprised to find Jeanne and her husband there with their Grandson, Sage. It is always nice to see friends when you are out and about.
You must keep in mind in these pictures that Nicholas is my cautious child. He is afraid of taking risks, but he's trying very hard to overcome that (although I appreciate that he still faces each challenge carefully and doesn't just go completely nuts and throw caution to the wind).
He was very proud to have climbed up this little mountain of rocks.
He went on this ride, called the Frog Hopper. I was not sure he was up for it given that everyone on it kept screaming, but he assured me he wanted to do it. Here is some video so you can see him enjoying the thrill. If you look closely, you will see that while he's smiling, he's still holding on tight to that bar in front.
Kyle had fun when he watched Nicholas shouting into this megaphone thing at the playground, so he did it too.

This morning, Kyle woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed at 7:30; only problem was that he was also covered in a rash on his face and trunk. Just great I thought to myself. As soon as 8 am rolled around, I called and set up an appointment. His Doctor and her Nurse both agree that Kyle must really like seeing them. (I hope we don't have to return any time soon!)
Turns out he has a viral rash that may or may not be a result of the virus he's getting over. His Doctor said it could be he had two viruses at the same time, such as Roseola in addition to the Herpangina. Either way, my son is covered from mostly head to toe in a red rash. He's not contagious, but it just looks horrible, so I think we will be staying home for the most part till it clears.
Today we went to see the Doctor. I am glad to report that she says he's doing well despite his current illness. Today has been a fever free day-- YAY!! Let's hope it stays that way.
He has definitely lost weight, a little less than a pound or so. She said that is expected because since he's been ill he's only wanted to nurse for the most part and is off of all the solids he would normally eat.
Unfortunately, she said the blisters will probably stay in the back of his throat for another week but the fever should not come back and his throat shouldn't hurt him much if at all anymore.
She said his development is perfect and right on track. She agrees that he definitely can walk and will as soon as he is more confident. She saw him sturdy on his feet without any support.
She did not give him his vaccinations today since he just got over having fever. We'll have to go back for those in a few weeks when we are sure he is well.
His weight was 23 pounds and 15 ounces, which puts him in the 56th percentile for weight. His height was 32.25 inches, which puts him at 97th percentile for height.
Here's hoping for continued health! He has been much more active today and playful more percent of the time than crabby (which was the greater percentage of time while he was sick... no fun for anyone). He has even returned to eating more normally. We are back to eating solids-- yay!
He was up most of the morning, so he's taking a hard-core nap right now. Its been almost two hours! Now I'm going to have to break him of the habit he got into while sick-- sleeping in Mommy's arms.
Saturday Kyle was a little cranky, and I discovered that one of his back teeth was coming in, so I assumed the crankiness came from that and the heat. He was still playing and eating just fine. Sunday he was cranky again, but I gave him Tylenol and Orajel for the pain he probably had in his mouth. He didn't really want to eat, though he did nurse and he doesn't always want to eat so it was not a huge deal. Then he got a fever around 7 pm. His fever was 102.6. I gave him Tylenol again and he was better. He was still playing and laughing with the other two boys. He had trouble going to sleep. He had trouble sleeping at night in general. His fever kept coming back. Even when he was sleeping he was mumbling or restless. He had no other symptoms and it worried me. We took him to Urgent Care this morning right away. The Doctor said it was probably just an ear infection. They checked out his oxygen levels, his lungs, his ears- all fine. Then she checked his mouth; there she found a large blister. She said that was her other guess. She said there is a virus going around that causes high fevers and blisters in the mouth. They can also get blisters on the hands and feet, but Kyle didn't have those and she said it was unlikely he would get them at this point. She said Tylenol and fluids were all we could do till the virus ran its course. The incubation period is about a week so we'll see if anyone else falls ill. I say anyone else, because Charlie was not feeling well this weekend either. He never felt he had a fever but he felt off. His throat hurt a bit but he figured he was just getting a cold. When we looked in his mouth today, he had a blister back there too. Thankfully, Kyle is doing much better this evening. He even ate some yogurt for dinner.
We had planned on seeing CARS 2 this morning before Kyle got sick. Since the boys had their hearts set on it, we still went. Kyle slept the whole time.
Today we asked Baba to take a picture of the family since we don't have one with all of us in it. It was first thing this morning before we had breakfast, so the boys were a bit uncooperative.
As you may or may not have noticed, we are very DC in these pictures. Its like we are the Justice League. :)
