Marriage

Last week, our cousin Jenny married a wonderful man named Tim.  Today the kids made a card for them. 
Nicholas wrote, "I like you.  I love you.  Happy Wedding! Love, Nicholas." 
Connor wrote the following:

It amazes me seeing his take on love and marriage.  I'm glad we set such a good example for him of what that means.  I hope that each of my boys finds as much love and happiness as Charlie and I have in each other.   

Various Happenings

We went to a big birthday party on Saturday. They had several bouncy houses, face painting, cotton candy machine, and a snow cone machine.  The boys had so much fun! 

 

Connor is unhappy in this picture because he had just hurt his toe in the bounce house before getting his cotton candy.  We were icing it at the same time.  (It is fine by the way.)

 The Cheerleaders and football team were volunteers for face painting and treat making!

Nicholas asked for a Spider-man face.

 Kyle just wanted a spider on each cheek.

 Connor wanted to be made up like a Cyberman from Dr. Who.

 

 

 Today they celebrated St. Patrick's Day at school so the boys were all geared up in all green.

Last night, one of Connor's molars fell out.  The other one next to it will come out any day now as well.  He was a little freaked out when he got it out because it bled quite a bit. 

 

Half Moon Bay

On Thursday, Connor went to Half Moon Bay for his field trip.  I developed the pictures from his camera and he did a pretty good job.  I picked just a couple of pictures to post.  He had a blast and was so happy to be able to take pictures.  It means a lot to him to be able to share with us all the stuff he saw and enjoyed on his field trips.  They visited the tide pools.  He was so happy that Rachel was his partner, which meant they had to spend the whole time together on and off the bus.  Even if they weren't assigned as partners, I'm sure they would have chosen to be partners anyway. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On Saturday, I went to Half Moon Bay for horseback riding!  Other than pony rides as a kid, I've never been before. It was so fun and it was a beautiful sunny day in Half Moon Bay!  We went on the first ride of the morning at the Seahorse Ranch and rode for 2 hours (only $25 an hour!).  We rode for an hour on trails and on the beach.  My horse was named Chico.  He was a beautiful blonde, but I have to say that he had a lot of attitude.  At first, he kept whacking the other horses with his head and I was told that meant he didn't like those horses.  He also kept trying to snack as we went along, so I was told that I had to pull back on the reins to keep him from feeling like he could do that the whole trip.  He didn't seem too happy with me for not letting him snack, but he complied.  Most of the other horses seemed content in line where they started at the beginning of the ride, but not my Chico; he couldn't decide where he wanted to be in the line.  Sometimes he wanted to be right up front, sometimes he went to the very back, and sometimes he stayed in the middle.  Sometimes he walked ever so slowly and sometimes he outright wanted to just gallop along quickly.  I have to say that part of the rules of the ranch were 'NO GALLOPING', so every time he started it, I pulled on the reins to get him to stop it but he still kept trying to gallop every now and again.  Thankfully, I was not too sore after the ride or in the days that followed.  I'd LOVE to go again!

 I was afraid of this walk down to the beach because it was steep and I wasn't sure how fast or slow Chico was going to go.  Thankfully, we survived!

 In this picture I am looking down at Chico because he decided he was done.  The other horses, not counting the two next to me, were all about 100 feet away from us and waiting for us to catch up so we could turn around and go back.  Chico was like, "Heck no.  I'll just wait here till they turn around and catch up to me."  Sure enough, they started walking towards us and he turned around and started walking back towards the ranch.

Butterfly

One of our Painted Lady butterflies emerged last night.  He was the first to cocoon I guess, and the others are still working on it.  We gathered him some flowers and added drops of sugar water for him to enjoy while he waits for his brothers and sisters to emerge. 

The lighter colored cocoon on the holey circle of paper is the one that is now empty.  The other little guy is still changing.

 

My Birthday

My birthday this year was wonderful.  We ate Maggiano's for dinner.  We went out to buy Wreck-it Ralph.  We ate a delicious chocolate mousse cake.  I got a beautiful heart necklace from my love.  I got lovely tulips from my in-laws.  :)  I am truly blessed!

 

 

On Thursday, Connor had his first field trip of they year.  They went to the tide pools in Half Moon Bay.  Here he is ready to, with his waterproof disposable camera on hand.  He had a blast!

 

A BIRTHday!

While it is MY birthday, I'm talking about our little caterpillar friend!  He finally popped out of his cocoon.  I was once again thinking he was dead since he had not moved at all in a couple of days, but he fooled me again!  He emerged and he is a moth!  He is going to have to stay in his little home until the boys get home to see him and then we will release the little guy into the world.  I'm glad he finally made it and that we share a birthday!

I found his cocoon was broken open but I couldn't find him!

 He was hiding up at the top next to the zipper!  Smart guy probably trying to make his escape!

Dr. Seuss

The boys celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday on Friday and today they requested green eggs and ham for dinner.  They were very happy that I came through!

 

 Well, we had green eggs, a pb and j sandwich, and ham and cheese rolls.
