Fun

Tonight Cathy, Marija, and Veronica came over. :) It was a great girls-night-in.
We had dinner together, Marija made delicious crepes for dessert, and then we watched 17 Again... again!! :) Yay for distractions!! :)

Nicholas ended up staying up with us to enjoy some crepes. Connor was completely passed out, poor guy.

Vegas

So Charlie is in Vegas for 3 days for a work conference. In preparation for this, last night we went out for frozen yogurt right after dinner as a treat and for Charlie to spend quality fun time with the kids before he left. It was a good, happy memory but we still miss him terribly. Hopefully the three days fly by!

I found it amusing that Charlie and Connor were eating their frozen yogurt the same way.... slowly, quietly eating while pensively looking out the window.

Assessment

Today Connor went for his Kindergarten assessment at the school by our house. As we walked over, Connor was holding my hand and he said, "Mom.... before you leave me there, can you please make sure its safe?" I assured him that he would be fine and that we would be waiting right outside for him. Once we got there he was fine to go with the teacher. Nicholas, however, was not so fine. He threw a huge fit that he couldn't go in with Connor. He cried a little bit and I distracted him. He finally resigned himself to accepting that we were not going in and just lay his head on my shoulder, sulking while we waited. Connor was in the Kindergarten room about 15 minutes and when he came out, he announced, "Mommy! I missed you so much." The teacher said he did great. On the walk home, Connor told me all the stuff the teacher had asked him (numbers, letters, colors, shapes, questions about books). He is very excited. Thursday of next week we go back for an ice cream social in which they will let us know who his actual teacher is going to be. Yummy :)

Crazy Day

I have been having a battle with Nicholas today-- the son who does not believe in pants, or shorts for that matter. He was wearing a pair of overalls today and he kept trying to take them off. I managed to get him to keep them on, but believe me it was a battle.
We had dinner at a diner tonight. During his meal, Nicholas stood up and announced, "No pants. Pants hide legs." He proceeded to try to take off his overalls, and when I would not let him, he pulled the short part up so it looked like he was wearing a speedo or something. Apparently he refuses to hide those legs of his. When we finally got home, he refused pajama bottoms so at long last his legs are free. Hmm.... I guess that also means I lost the war. OH WELL!

Connor is not as worried about his legs being hidden from the world, but unfortunately for us he is not afraid to use them to get away from us. We were at Target and as we went around, we kept reminding him to stay with us. He was never too far ahead, but still we called him back to us. As we were getting ready to go and pay, we headed towards the elevators. Connor ran ahead and Charlie ran after him. Unfortunately, the elevator doors opened and Connor bolted inside. To make matters worse, the doors closed before Charlie could get to the elevator. Charlie then proceeded to run down the escalator to meet up with Connor. Nicholas and I stayed upstairs to wait for the elevator in case Connor came back up it. The elevator returned empty, so we got in and went downstairs. On the first floor we found a very teary Connor holding his Daddy's hand. I told him that was a very naughty thing to have done and he cried, "I know... I'm sorry." Charlie said that when he came downstairs he found Connor standing in the elevator crying and crying. We continued to talk about what happened with him in the car and that is when he told us what happened. He saw the elevator was opening so he ran in to be first. Then he saw the doors closing and that we were not in with him and he thought to himself, "Oh no!! What have I done!!" He said he started crying when the elevator went down. Then when the doors opened he was glad to see Daddy had run to find him.
During prayers, Connor told Jesus he was sorry he got in the elevator by himself. Hopefully he's learned his lesson about running ahead of us.

As I said, it was a crazy day and I'm glad its over. :P

Monkeys

The boys were singing "Monkeys jumping on the bed" today and so I got out my camera. Nicholas refused to participate at first, so the first video is of One Little Monkey. He got over his camera shyness and joined in after Connor did one round of being a lonely little monkey. I thought it was great that Connor actually pretended to 'fall off and bump his head'.

Bubble Blaster

Today I found some bubble makers the kids had gotten for their birthday celebration in Texas. We used them while we waited for the pool to fill. The kids had so much fun!

Lucky Boy

A few weeks ago I went to a Bridal Faire at Maggiano's with a friend of mine. I had to take Nicholas since Charlie was unable to watch both boys. We had to pay the entrance fee for Nicholas as well (there was no way around it). He did enjoy all the free wedding cake samples anyway, so it was not a total loss of an afternoon in his opinion. As a consequence of him being there, he was also entered into all of the contest give-aways. Unfortunately, he didn't win the trip to Hawaii, but he did win a prize. Today he received a letter in the mail from Eli Thomas congratulating him on his upcoming wedding and his winning a prize from the Bridal Faire. Apparently he gets a free tuxedo rental with five paid rentals or $20 off each person's rental in his wedding party. :P
I thought that was way too funny. Hopefully my friend can use it since to the best of my knowledge Nicholas has not proposed marriage to anyone quite yet. :)
